The Unification of Theoretical Physics and Mystical Teachings Is of Fundamental Importance to Both Studies

This is About Creating an Understanding.

An Understanding Which Will Justify Belief in Mystical Teachings

Equivalent to One’s Belief in Theoretical Physics.

Theoretical physics exists to describe and understand the physical universe. Mystical teachings exist to describe and understand all of existence, far greater in scope than the physical universe alone. They overlap in their description and understanding of the physical universe, and at this level, they have been in apparent conflict for many centuries.

Physics considers physical existence to be completely real, and mystical teachings claim it is illusion. Long ago, in order to resolve just such issues, the study of physics took the position that if two different descriptions of the same system seemed to be in conflict, there must be an interpretation of each theory which shows them to be mutually consistent if they are both true. This assumption is called the Correspondence Principle.

No such interpretation could be found until the development of quantum mechanics. However, before we explore this quantum mechanical interpretation, we will discuss and answer the question of What are We? The answer will also relate How We Explore the Universe. Knowing what we are and how we function is essential to determining the fundamental nature of what is real. Once we have answered the question of what we are, we will address three other fundamental questions:

WHERE ARE WE?

WHERE ARE WE GOING?

WHY ARE WE HERE?

At this point, we will have developed an Understanding of Our Purpose, and How to Attain It. The need for this is characterized perfectly by a statement attributed to Buddha, in that Meditation without Understanding is Blind. In other words, if one is blind, finding what is sought will be extremely difficult.

The principle is to develop an understanding of how the universe works, and how consciousness operates within the universe. One can then utilize this understanding to attain complete freedom within the universe.

PART 1: WHAT ARE WE AND HOW DO WE EXPLORE THE UNIVERSE?

THERE’S NO WAKE-UP CALL LIKE A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

We first turn to a discussion of Near Death Experiences, or NDEs. My personal NDE was foundational in terms of motivation to formulate and answer all our questions. What follows is the result of over 40 years of my research.

So, Theoretical Physics has a Problem

Dr. Ring’s Study of Apparent Eyeless Vision reported that people who were totally blind, provided precise, corroborated visual accounts from their Near-Death, Out-of-Body Experiences which could not be due to hallucination. Blind people, incapable of forming images in the brain, instantly attained undistorted vision from a position somewhere outside and above the body after physical life could no longer be sustained.

When confronted by such evidence, the scientific community generally accepts that evidently it is common for consciousness and the mind to persist after death, in a non-physical existence outside the body.

However, realization soon sets in that this phenomenon presents a profound and unavoidable challenge to our understanding of physics, in that such perception of images occurs without physical matter absorbing electromagnetic energy. How did the images form if there was no matter, without electrons to absorb the energy? Since the blind develop crystal-clear vision during Near-Death-Experiences without any physical matter processing light, this proves mainstream physics alone is incapable of explaining the universe, and requires inclusion of non-physical processes. Fortunately, a simple interpretation from mystical studies together with quantum mechanics establishes a basis for complete understanding. At this point, it is clearly laughable to imagine that theoretical physics is anywhere close to a Theory of Everything.

It is remarkable that Dr. Ring’s research on Apparent Eyeless Vision establishes the reality of this non-physical process.  It is equally remarkable that this forces us to consider the unification of theoretical physics and mystical teachings in order to hope to be able to have a complete understanding of the entire universe.

Upon realizing that the universe consists of much more than purely physical manifestations, one might logically expect that mainstream physics could not possibly provide adequate descriptions of non-physical phenomena.  Fortunately, mystical teachings offer centuries of realizations and techniques to explore the full extent of the universe.

My decades of research have convinced me that there are a number of spiritual teachings which rise to this standard, so I do not promote any teaching over another.  However, in order to come to my conclusions, I have only had time to sufficiently study one such discipline in depth, and my experiences will reflect that teaching.  All of this points to the reality that empirical experience of the individual is necessary to gain complete understanding and freedom within the universe, and out-of-the body travel as taught by various mystical schools provides the means to do so.  Much more will be related in subsequent materials.

PART 2: WHERE ARE WE AND WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Quantum mechanics is fundamental to the unification of physics and mystical teachings, and one of its oldest and most widely embraced tenets is the Copenhagen Interpretation, where it is assumed that all quantum mechanically allowable states exist simultaneously. However, one only experiences a single, specific state of the universe at any instant, and never all states at once. This fact caused physicists to reason that whenever any observer interacts in any way with the universe, the infinitude of wave-states instantly collapses into the single state experienced by that observer. And of course, the universe would need to instantly re-inflate to all allowable states to be ready for the next collapse in the next instant, and on and on it goes. This is likely the most egregious insult ever to Occam’s Razor.

What you will see is that an exceptionally simple interpretation attributed to an ancient Tibetan, allows complete consistency between quantum mechanics and mystical teachings, without the contrivance of waveform collapse. Perhaps the greatest physicist in history never had any university degrees at all.

To summarize, each of us exists as consciousness attached to a mind and body, making sense of the universe by experiencing individual states in a causal sequence. Eventually we learn to detach from the body and explore the universe in a non-physical manner. Finally, we detach from the mind as well and experience the entire universe at once in the shared view called Universal, or God Consciousness.

We now have a literal understanding of where we are going, and that understanding came through the study of physics, or more specifically, quantum mechanics. And through that understanding, we realize that physics points us to an existence beyond time and space, to the realm described by the mystics. At this point, since mystical teachings have existed for thousands of years, one might claim that theoretical physicists must be guilty of poor scholarship. Why didn’t they seriously consider mystical teachings long ago?

Well, quantum mechanics had to be developed first, and then there is the reality that to receive research funding, professional physicists must largely restrict their research to topics currently receiving funding. Beyond that, anyone serious about researching mystical teachings must also be willing to undertake a decades-long contemplative study.

A purely intellectual study would fail. The second part of the statement attributed to Buddha earlier is that Understanding Without Meditation is Without Fruits. The benefits of contemplation or meditation are purely empirical. Without personal experience, one could not possibly know what they were talking about.

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that mainstream theoretical physics is comfortable with the possibility of the infinite complexity of infinite universes, along with universal waveform collapse and reinflation every instant in order to explain causality. However, causality is only necessary as long as the mind is interpreting, or “making sense” of the universe. Since consciousness can experience the universe independent of the mind, beyond the realm of space and time, it experiences all quantum mechanical states simultaneously and no interactions occur at all. This static universe unifies theoretical physics and mystical teachings, and provides understanding through literal, scientific truth, without the need for metaphor, and we finally have an understanding of an eternal realm. The universe of mainstream theoretical physics is simply a specific interpretation of the more general static universe.

The universe is simple. It is static. It can be completely understood by those willing to learn the techniques taught by those who have mastered separation of consciousness from body and mind. If you restrict yourself to the physical realm, your scientific basis is limited to untestable conjecture based on theories. If you go beyond the physical, contemplation is the laboratory, and only empirical evidence gathered beyond the realm of time and space can be considered complete.

PART 3: WHY ARE WE HERE?

And now the finale. What is the point of myriad existences and lifetimes? The answer comes from a simplistic interpretation of a creation story reduced to its essence.

Existence within space and time is simply God’s version of Distance Education, or Virtual Learning. It doesn’t matter how long this education takes, because time is part of the illusion. The outcome is inescapable. Sufficient experience will eventually ensure that consciousness will discriminate between truth and illusion. And since we are merely viewing a sequence of states as one would view frames of a movie reel, the universe doesn’t even get used up in the process.

Whether one approves of God’s education system or not, the only path to freedom seems to go through the realm beyond time and space. And the most straightforward means of achieving this appears to be the development of separation of consciousness from body and mind, under the guidance of one who has mastered the technique.

It is said that when one attains mastership of consciousness, one gains the freedom to choose how to interact within the universe. Physical birth is no longer necessary. Once mastership has been obtained, it is only necessary to manifest a body within any particular realm. The entire universe is available to you, as it is, and always has been for all consciousness.

All of the foregoing exists as a means to understand the true nature of the universe, which allows us to function with complete freedom within it. There couldn’t be a chapter in the Bible about The Big Bang, because the concept didn’t exist when it was written. But now that we have developed a sufficient understanding of quantum mechanics, we can see that an empirical understanding of the universe can only be attained by going beyond time and space.

If you find this to be sufficient motivation for your personal pursuit of Enlightenment, the universe awaits you. But remember, the universe is very large. It doesn’t matter whether one’s initial motivation comes from an NDE, a meditative vision, or perhaps an astral travel experience, one needs sufficient motivation to pursue the ultimate. The spiritual journey is all about personal, empirical experience, but mystical teachings warn us that if our experiences are only within the realms of time and space, the End-of-Life will necessarily result in the continuation of the cycle of reincarnations. Since the realms of time and space are infinite, experience while within them can never be complete. If we choose to have complete spiritual freedom, we must focus our attention beyond the lower realms.

The only way to reliably complete this journey in a single lifetime is to have a guide. And that guide must be completely familiar with the entire path necessary to accomplish your purpose. Such a guide will often be referenced in the materials which follow, so it must be defined as clearly as possible. The guide will be referred to as Spirit.

God is the Source of All, and Spirit is its Voice.

There are many Spiritual Guides who serve as channels for Spirit.

These Guides Dwell in God Consciousness Continuously and are Always Available.

If you are tired of creeping along, lifetime after lifetime, locked within time and space, the focus must shift to the attainment of Universal Consciousness within that lifetime. It can be done, with the attainment of complete freedom as a result.

PART 4: MISSION

Since contemplation provides the means to achieve realization beyond time and space, it is necessary to understand the spectrum of teachings available to explore existence beyond the physical realm, as they are not all equivalent. First, the most common spiritual experiences don’t go very far beyond the physical realm. Many of the spiritual offerings on the web speak of teaching communication with those who have passed away, astral travel, or spiritual healing and the like. These can all be valid and potentially beneficial pursuits, but they don’t take one beyond the realms of time and space. However, even though these out-of-the-body activities might be within the realms of time and space, they can be sufficiently dramatic and euphoric that many feel there couldn’t be anything greater. It took me twelve years after my own Near-Death-Experience to conclude that I hadn’t visited Heaven that day. And no out-of-body experience should be demeaned, as developing facility in leaving the body can be immensely valuable.

However, if you prefer to not be bound to reincarnation, many spiritual teachings agree that only God Consciousness can fulfill that desire. If this is the case, the study you choose should clearly identify this as the fundamental focus of the teaching, and provide the means to obtain it. This will be explored further in the study materials to follow. However, keep in mind that whatever teaching you follow, it should affirm two principal points from the introductory videos:

  • Causal Existence within Time & Space is Illusory
  • Conscious Existence Outside the Body and Beyond Time & Space is Possible, and Provides the Means to Explore the Universe and Attain God Consciousness

As a generalization, any teaching which does not embrace and promote the attainment of God Consciousness is fundamentally equivalent to the acceptance of endless rounds of reincarnation.

Of those teachings which explicitly mention God Consciousness, the Vedanta Society maintains a clear position on the attainment and significance of God Consciousness. They teach that it can only be attained through realization and practice.

Kabbalah, the mystical side of Judaism, speaks clearly, if infrequently, of the experience of God Consciousness. In Kabbalah—Tradition of hidden knowledge, Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi describes the experience: “A heightened physical awareness changes into a psychological lucidity which then transforms into a profound consciousness of the totality of the universe and the Presence of Divinity. One is in direct contact with all the Worlds at once, and perceives both the complexity and the unity of everything. Although the moment may last just one second, it is always unforgettable.” This statement is consistent with first-hand accounts of the event, although I find it puzzling that God Consciousness is mentioned so rarely in Kabbalah.

Current day Eckankar is a revival of a teaching that is said to have existed throughout time, emerging in different countries at different times in history. It is headquartered in the U.S. and offers courses of study throughout the world. Eckankar acknowledges that there are many paths to God Consciousness, and prioritizes spending as little time as possible in the realms of time and space.

There are other historical mystical teachings which similarly embrace the promotion of God Consciousness and no one teaching will be best for everyone. It is not uncommon for an individual to study more than one teaching before finding the approach which suits them best. And remember that an exalted state of consciousness is attained through empirical means. The experience of such states depends completely upon your willingness to attune yourself to the Voice of Spirit, whether it is channeled through a Spiritual Master who has completed their own such journey, or directly from Spirit Itself.

According to Buddha, Meditation without Understanding is Blind. Going a step further, Life without Understanding is also Blind.

There are 5 questions that must be answered to be able to achieve the most fundamental goals of existence.

What Are We?

Where Are We?

Where Are We Going?

How Do We Get There?

Why Are We Here?
